Menahem studied at high school in Miskolc and the Jewish high school in Ungvár. In 1943 and 1944 he was a member of the national leadership of “Bnei Akiva” and in charge of the educational and cultural activities. After the Germans invaded Hungary on 19.3.1944, Menahem was active in the Zionist underground and responsible for the tiyul operation within the framework of his movement. In 1945 and 1946 he completed his university studies in Budapest. He made aliya, studied at the Hebrew University in the Hebrew Language Department and in 1955 received his doctorate. Menahem was a professor at Bar-Ilan University. He was awarded the Israel Prize. He resided in Ramat-Gan.
